Some people would probably criticize these hair toppers for being thinner than other hairpieces on the market. The lighter volume isn’t necessarily a bad feature, though. For those with mild hair loss, a thin wig will make your hair look more natural. A chunkier option could even make your head appear bulky or disproportionate. Women with severe balding might want to check out thicker hairpieces, though. The only disadvantage of silk-based hair toppers is that you can’t easily lay it flat on the scalp, especially if you’ve been wearing it all day.

It also requires a ton of maintenance—you’ll have to wash, condition, clean, and style the strands on a daily basis. Some people enjoy this type of treatment, with the freedom of being able to control the way the hair topper looks, but others will need to consider the alternatives. Use salon grade products, or products free of sulfates and drying alcohols on your wig or topper. The wig or topper will be inspected upon receipt to ensure it has not been altered or damaged in any way. If Wave Hair Collection receives an item for return that has clearly been altered, the item will be sent back to the customer.

For some who wear their hair less frequently, the lifespan will be even longer. Please keep in mind that lace tops are very fragile, and with frequent use, may not last as long. It is important to be gentle with the lace top when washing, styling, and storing your piece. Wigs or toppers with bleached knots may also experience reduced longevity. Wave Hair Collection can not be responsible for the care and handling of our wigs and toppers while outside of our store. We know that your hair piece is an investment, and this helps us to keep our quality standards high.

Thank you so much for offering a short curly topper- they are just not out there. The best way to maximize your facial features is to choose hair toppers that complement the eyes instead of the skin tone. Both fair- and dark-skinned women can try warm shades of red but should avoid gray, purple, and blue hair toppers. YAYAFAIRY’s pixie hair topper has a soft, breathable hair net under the base, which protects your scalp from irritation, sweat, allergies, and heat.

Wearers can have confidence in the hairpiece, knowing it’s produced by Hairro. The company is an industry expert backed by two decades of experience, and all their products are durable and guaranteed to withstand daily use. The wigs are also resistant to harmful elements, such as UV rays, dust, and sweat, and more. The goal is to find a hair topper that closely resembles the color of your natural hair. If you can’t seem to find one that matches your hair, you can opt to bleach or dye your wig to adjust the tone.

You can style it any way you want or as close to your real hair as possible. When it comes to color, it’s only available in three shades, so it may not look good on you if you have different hair color. The good news is that you can also dye or bleach the hairpiece to match your needs, though. You can achieve a wide array of short hairstyles and bob cuts with this hairpiece. It’s available in eight different colors, so you’ll certainly find one that resembles your hair color.

You can cut, trim, bleach, dye, iron, curl, or straighten the strands, which allows you to sport multiple hairstyles using only one hair topper. You can choose between straight, curly, center-parted, and air bangs, among others. If you can’t decide between straight and curly, opt for straight hair toppers made of long, natural hair. You can just curl or straighten those strands as needed. What sets this hair topper apart is how natural the bangs look. It’s made of 100% human hair and has a 3D design that provides the face with a 360-degree cover range.

Both fair- and dark-skinned women can try lighter versions of their natural hair color but should avoid yellow and orange hues in the hair toppers. Synthetic fiber feels a lot more comfortable than real hair, but when it comes to appearance, human hair has synthetic fibers on the back foot. Making synthetic options look natural isn’t hard, though.

You can add a few streaks or highlights to the strands, but we don’t suggest using loud colors—the wig wasn’t made for major color changes. If you force the hairpiece to a hue outside of the suggested spectrum, its strands might fade, become dull, or look unnatural. It’s a durable hair topper, and the curls are resistant to natural contaminants, such as dust, sweat, and excessive sunlight. When it comes to the curls, it’ll stay bouncy as long as you don’t iron it. You can color, iron, and style the pieces all you want without worrying about damaging the strands or ruining the aesthetic. If you feel the strands are starting to lose shape, you can quickly resolve the issue by giving it a thorough clean.

All you need to keep it smelling good is to wash it with shampoo and spray some perfume on it. It’s up to you to choose the hair length that best suits your preferences. If your hair is particularly thin, you might want to use longer hair toppers with thicker tops. Those with thicker hair are freer to explore shorter hairstyles. Most hair toppers come in lengths of 8, 12, 16, and 18 inches, though smaller and larger sizes do exist.

A silk-based hair topper such as the SEGO Dense Hair Topper is perhaps one of the most popular options in the market. Delving into the many options for the hair topper color and length you want is exciting, but finding the perfect hairpiece goes beyond aesthetic factors. In this section, we’ll be covering everything that buyers should know when shopping for these hair topper wigs. The toppers are suitable for all kinds of short hairstyles, but women with long hair might want to choose another next option. Wearing a pixie cut wig will seem very unnatural with longer styles.

To Miss New Orleans: How A Transplanted Creole Community Made LA Home

miss toya creole house

The South was a challenging and dangerous environment in which to thrive for any person of color, even in New Orleans, one of the country’s most cosmopolitan seaport cities. In the old colonial days, there were restrictions in New Orleans that dictated and limited the behavior of both free Blacks, known as the “gens de couleur libre,” and the majority bound in chattel slavery. All of us are descendants of Etienne Broyard, a gendarme in the French colonial army who arrived in New Orleans at age 24 in January 1753 from La Rochelle, France. After his service was completed, he became a policeman, and then plied his trade as a carpenter.

In interior design, bespoke design has emerged as a popular phrase for those looking to create unique spaces that reflect their style. Let’s explore the concept of bespoke design, its benefits, and how we incorporate it into your space. One of the key benefits of bespoke design is the ability to create a space that is perfectly tailored to your needs and lifestyle. Unlike mass-produced furniture, bespoke pieces are made to fit your space, ensuring that every inch is utilized effectively. Bespoke design also allows for a high level of creativity, where you can collaborate with our interior designers and craftsmen to bring your vision to life.

Work With a Professional

There are endless possibilities, so this kind of furniture is a popular choice compared to run-of-the-mill catalog pieces or things on display in showrooms. We are the only bespoke tailor shop in Los Angeles and Orange County capable of custom making Southern Italian cut deconstructed suits and sport coats for men and women. We measure you by hand using a tape measure, not an app or scanner to send to a remote factory. We design and tailor in our workshop in Los Angeles (Santa Fe Springs).

A good industrial designer needs to be able to understand the functionality of objects and how they are used. A good interior designer needs to be able to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. A good web designer needs to be able to create websites that are easy to use and look good. And a good fashion designer needs to be able to create clothing that is both fashionable and functional.

- CREATE SPACES THAT LIVE ON THROUGH ALL OF LIFE'S CHAPTERS

Designers and master craftspeople become partners in making, collaborating around every detail to turn their customers’ dreams into reality. Heissmann shares his thoughts with Atelier Managing Editor Jennifer Dorr here. Last but not least, don’t let your project become a source of stress and headaches. Enjoy playing with different ideas and elements until you create a dream space.

This process often includes detailed consultations, the selection of specific materials, and perhaps intricate discussions about form, function, and aesthetics. With bespoke design, the goal is to produce something that is not only unique but also resonates on a personal level with the client, making it truly theirs. If you’re unsure where to start with your bespoke design, get pro assistance! They will help bring your vision to life, taking care of all the additional details in the process.

Far beyond the conventional selection of paint chips, bespoke interiors thrive on colors that tell a personal story, resonating with the inhabitant’s emotions, preferences, and aspirations. These personalized hues go beyond mere aesthetics, transforming walls, furnishings, and accents into a canvas that reflects the very soul of the individual. Custom furniture and fixtures in Bespoke Bliss seamlessly marry functionality with aesthetic appeal. Unlike mass-produced items that prioritize efficiency, bespoke pieces are designed to fulfill specific needs while contributing to the overall beauty of the space. A custom-designed bookshelf, for example, may serve as storage and a focal point, showcasing the inhabitant’s literary preferences and creating a conversation piece. Opting for bespoke items or design services means engaging in a close collaboration between the client and designers or craftsmen.

Remember, the memories you build into your design will remain there – so enjoy the process. Designing a bespoke bedroom means, above all, creating a space conducive to rest. However, one of its significant benefits is making the most of your space. When custom designing your bedroom, think about creative ways to maximize storage and create a clutter-free environment. Bespoke furniture will for sure live on long into the future of interior design.

Bespoke design is a term often used in the world of fashion, but what does it actually mean? We joined the brand-building process at its very beginning to support the creative process and technical implementation of the whole project. Our experts created a memorable and catchy website design with an easy-to-use content management system. At Keystone Millworks, from the very first design sketch, each component is carefully considered to deliver a one of a kind design scheme, wholly bespoke to taste and space. Do You Have To Pay Gratuities on a Cruise?

gratuity on a cruise

If you do not pre-pay the gratuities, you will need to pay the current per day, per person dollar amount at the time of your sailing. This fee will be added to your stateroom account once onboard the ship. As stated above, these service charges apply to all guests regardless of stateroom category. However, some stateroom categories do have higher fees than others. The debate continues as to the inclusion of “forced” cruise gratuities on board ship. Since all purchases on cruise ships are “cashless” (with the possible exception of the casino), it is a good idea to keep an eye on your onboard account.

Oceania Cruises

Navigating the etiquette of tipping on a cruise can seem complex, but understanding a few key points will help you manage this aspect of your cruise experience with ease. Most allow you to adjust the amount given to each crew member – increasing or decreasing – based on your experience with them. It’s also a good idea to tip your spa attendant separately if they go above and beyond to make your spa experience memorable. These services may include laundry workers, dishwashers, galley attendants, and below-deck positions.

Cruise Tips That Feel Wrong (But Are 100% Right)

Luxury lines may include gratuities in the price of your cruise, while it’s a separate charge on mainstream cruise lines. In addition, a 20% service gratuity is automatically added to all beverage purchases, spa services, and dinner at La Reserve. On the new Margaritaville at Sea cruise line, guests can expect to pay gratuities during their 2-night sailing. These fees are $14.95 per person, per night for interior and ocean view staterooms and $19.95 for suites. One major benefit of pre-paying your cruise gratuities is that you will pay the current rate. If prices should happen to increase before your sailing, you will not need to pay extra for these increased costs.

These additional fees are a per person, per day dollar amount that are charged to all guests across all stateroom categories. Princess Cruises gratuities are automatically added to passenger accounts. Passengers in mini-suites and club class are charged $17 per day, and suite passengers pay $18 per day. The amount is the same for children and adults, and it can be prepaid up to six days prior to the start of your cruise. Whether your cruise line calls them daily service fees, cruise ship gratuities or crew appreciation, it’s simply tipping on a cruise. Nearly every cruise line has a name for these automatically-added service fees.

Princess Plus & Premier Offers: Package Details and if it’s Worth it

Your article has done a lot to change my philosophy and increase my understanding of why there is this charge and what the implications of reducing it might be. On embarkation day of my very first cruise, a porter came up to my taxi and whisked my luggage away, seconds after I got out of the car. I had prepaid my gratuities, and I assumed the porter was a cruise line employee, so I didn’t tip him.

To do so, simply head down to Guest Services on the ship to tell them that you want to change your tip amounts. If you prefer to pay for tips once you're on board your cruise, you'll generally find that the gratuities automatically appear on your bill. The big advantage to paying cruise tips in advance is that you lock in the current rate. If your line raises the rate between the time you pay and the time you sail, you won't pay more.

If we have a favorite bar and are taken care of then we slide them a tip. This is North American culture. We concur that the ships crew work hard as they do perform various roles not just waiter or room steward but also other roles assigned to them. Some cruise lines automatically charge this to your onboard account, while others leave it up to your discretion.

It doesn't help that tipping etiquette and different cruise line policies on the practice can be baffling. Whether you're wondering how much to tip a cruise porter or the waiter on a cruise ship, there is a lot of gray area. That's why Cruise Critic's experts have broken down when to tip, how much to tip and whom to tip.

How Much Are Gratuities on Princess?

Note that if you purchase a dining or beverage package, most cruise lines will charge you gratuities based on a percentage of the package price. If you get one of these packages for free as a booking perk, as with Norwegian Cruise Line's Free at Sea promotion, you might still be required to pay the gratuities on the free perk. Cruise lines say they pass the money collected from service charges to the shipboard crew. They say the money is shared not just with front-of-house crew, such as room attendants and waitstaff, but also with behind-the-scenes workers. In that sense, the current system is more equitable than the old system of cash tipping, which favored certain workers, lines say.

First of all, if you’re feeling a little confused, don’t worry — you aren’t alone. In fact, we can’t think of a place where gratuities are handled the same way as they are on a cruise ship. During your cruise vacation, you’ll probably receive services from other people who aren’t cruise line employees—but you might not realize it! If there’s a crew member who goes above and beyond for you, there are some other ways to show your appreciation.

Most cruise lines charge between 15-20% on top of drinks prices as a gratuity. The prices on the menu won’t include the gratuity so it is worth remembering this when ordering drinks. For all hotel services provided on board, a service charge will be added daily to the Guest’s onboard account. The service charge is an integral part of the cruise and therefore the amount cannot be altered. US cruisers who are more accustomed to tipping seem to be happier with the current automatic gratuity system as they are able to see that they have paid tips to the staff.

Diane’s experience is very common, especially on some of the larger American cruise lines. Removing gratuities isn’t an option on Costa Cruises and all guests must pay them. If you are paying gratuities you may want to know how they are broken down and split between the staff members. Even if a cruise was bought on a promotion, for example – buy one get one free – the gratuities will still be charged to each person. Cruise lines are usually happy for guests to increase the gratuities they pay for obvious reasons. To remove the gratuities guests must head to the reception desk and ask to have them removed.

Tipping on a cruise: What to know about cruise ship gratuities

gratuity on a cruise

Celebrity charge a daily service charge, as well as gratuities on every drink, spa treatment and speciality meal. Technically cruise lines cannot force you to pay gratuities, especially if you have a complaint or issue about the service you received on board. Gratuities on a cruise are not mandatory, but instead heavily suggested and added automatically.

Complete Guide to Cruise Ship Gratuities for 2024

40,000 people receive my best cruise tips, insights and guides every week. I have sailed twice with the budget river cruise line Tui, and again all tips were included. It is important to check the small print with the cruise line you are travelling with, to see if you will incur these extra charges.

Costa Cruises

Their tips are at the lower end of the scale for gratuity rates. In Africa, $15 to $20 per day is recommended for the Zambezi Queen onboard staff, and $5 to $10 is recommended for AmaWaterways tour guides. The British too are less happy tipping on cruises than Americans – and likely won’t tip as much or at all. We expect few guests actually make the effort to reduce the automatic tip. The idea is that tips are now shared among all staff, including behind-the-scenes workers, not just room stewards and waiters. After the cruise, if you ask a porter to load your luggage and wheel it to the outdoors or motor coach, you’ll need to dip into your wallet one more time.

Yet, it can add hundreds of dollars to the final numbers and falls into the category of an important item for most passengers. Virgin Voyages includes gratuities in the cruise fare, but they call it a “Voyage Fare” instead of a gratuity. This means you won’t have to worry about tipping your crew members during your voyage. Gratuity charges are applied to your onboard account on a daily basis. This means that you don’t have to worry about remembering to tip your servers, housekeeping staff, or other crew members during your trip. Passengers are welcome to tip cruise line crew as they see fit.

Step 2 – Gratuities Will be Added to Your Onboard Account Daily

The exact charge for these cruise gratuities do vary by cruise line and by stateroom category. While gratuities are part of the cruise fare on some luxury lines, cruisers should plan to pay the following fees on the majority of major cruise lines. Olsen gratuities are entirely at the discretion of each passenger.

While considered a luxury brand, Viking is one of the few high-end cruise lines that does charge a daily guest gratuity. All guests will need to pay a hotel and dining charge of $17 per day regardless of stateroom category. The newer system of charging cruise gratuities on a per person/per day basis has helped equalize this situation. In addition to the waitstaff and room stewards receiving portions of the fee, the funds are also shared by some cruise lines with crew members in other jobs.

A 15% tip is automatically added to bar, beverage and deck service tabs. The cruise line suggests you may also wish to give your local guides a cash tip at the end of each tour. Viking Ocean Cruises tipping policy is to automatically add a daily “hotel and dining charge” to your bill. You can adjust this by heading to the Explorer’s Desk at any time. Expect a 15% service charge for bar and wine purchases plus salon services. For cruises out of Barbados, gratuities are charged in advance and automatically added to the cost of your cruise when you book.

How Much to Tip Cabin Stewards and Butlers

You might be wondering how you can get out of paying these cruise service charges. That is to keep an eye on your cruise planner and email for special promotions. Further, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, and deck service tabs. An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, and deck service tabs. Cruise gratuities are the tips that each passenger pays during the trip.

If you're wondering how much you should tip on the specific cruise line you're considering or have already booked, we've compiled that information here. Below is a line-by-line look at policies for automatic gratuity charges (called service charges or "crew appreciation" charges at some lines). The roles above don’t receive tips from the daily gratuity charge collected by cruise lines. However, bartenders receive gratuities from the service charges applied to beverages and drink package purchases.

Just remember that cruise ship crew live in very tight quarters, without much room for personal belongings. So something edible (maybe a favorite candy or snack from your home region?) will be more appreciated than something they would have to store. Automatic gratuities cover just about every tipped crew member on the ship.

For instance, in recent years, Norwegian often ran Free at Sea promotions that included free crew tips in addition to free shipboard Wi-Fi and a free drinks package. The line hasn't been doing that as much lately, but these offers often come back at times when brands need to drum up more business. Similarly, if you're on a higher-end ship that lists gratuities as being included in the fare, that means just what it says.

A 20% gratuity is automatically added to specialty dining, beverage, beverage package, room service, mini bar purchases, and spa & salon purchases. Cruise gratuities are weekly or daily service charges paid by cruise guests. If you book through a travel agent, you may find that prepaid gratuities are automatically added before sailing. Otherwise you can prepay the tips up to 48 hours before your cruise. Because tips are technically voluntary, most cruise lines do allow passengers to opt out of the automatic service charge and to tip by themselves in cash. The included tip amount varies by cruise line but is typically 15% to 20% of the bill.

Check out our travel tips and resources guide for airline booking tips, ways to save money, how to find great hotels and other crazy useful trip planning info. The exact amount largely depends on which cruise line you’re going on. But many of the popular lines add on a gratuity of $15 to $20 per person a day. You can choose not to pay the gratuities or to reduce the amount, but often they make up part of the crew’s wage. Viking River Cruises recommends a standard daily gratuity rate.

You can simply head down to Guest Services to explain the situation and have the gratuity amount changed or removed. In this case, the charge will automatically be applied to your onboard account. Then at the end of the cruise the amount is paid with your payment method on file. The full charge is calculated and then you can call the cruise line or pay via your online account up to two days before your trip. This means that once you sail the charge is already taken care of. The cost is the same whether gratuities are paid onboard or before your cruise.
